He is working as faculty in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He did his graduation from GMC Srinagar and Post graduation (MD, Internal Medicine, Shere-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar). He finished his DM Endocrinology and Metabolism from All India Institute of Medical Sciences in year 2003 and was received M.M.S. Ahuja Award for being best DM student for year 2003. He has received several national and international awards, notably AZZIZ Baumgartner Award by AE-PCOS Society, for best paper on "High prevalence of PCOS in lymphocytic Thyroiditis girls" at SAN FRANSCICO USA, Nov 2008, Young Investigator Award -International Congress on Hormonal Steroids and Hormones and Cancer in Fukouka, Japan, October 21-25, 2002 and APPES Fellowship Award -Second Biennial Scientific meeting of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES), Cairns, Australia.2002.

Dr. Ganie has been actively involved in research regarding Diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, Vitamin D deficiency and PCOS. He has contributed significantly to the area of PCOS research, especially metabolic dysfunction and glucose intolerance. He was instrumental in setting up Brain storming on PCOS through ICMR and other funding agencies and therefore has been designated as Chief Coordinator of a Nationwide PCOS TASK FORCE by ICMR. He has several ongoing projects on PCOS and Diabetes, in addition. He has been a DM/MD and PhD guide and has mentored several students at both the institutions where he has been working (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi currently and Sheri-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar formerly).

Dr. Ganie is reviewer of many funding agencies and is a reviewer for many international journals. He was instrumental in indexing Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism which he was Executive Editor from 2007 to 2010. He is an Executive member of the Indian Thyroid Society, Advisor to Indian Thyroid Jouranl, Editor Diabetes and Obesity International Journal and Scientific Secretary for ESICON 2016. Dr. Ganie has published more than 140 publications in various national and international peer reviewed journals.


VICE PRESIDENTS

Dr. Nutan Agarwal is the Editor-in-Chief of Indian Journal Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the Assistant Editor of Asian Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology practices. She is the Founder Secretary of Gynae-Endocrine Society of India (GESI) and the Chairperson of Gynae-Endocrine Society of AOGD. She is also the Organizing Secretary of the Endoscopy training program at the AIIMS. She has done Observership in the fetal medicine unit at King College Hospital, London, UK and has Diploma in Obs-Gynae USG from Ian Donald Medical School University. She has 124 long papers and 195 abstracts published in various international and national Journals. She has been the principal investigator and co-investigator of 24 research projects and chief guide and Co-guide of 47 theses. She is the recipient of the International Medical Excellence award for the health sector 2009 and G S Reddy Pondicherry oration award at the 7th International Congress on Geriatric Care.

An adept Endocrinologist from Guwahati in Assam Dr. Manash P Baruah is associated as a Director and Consultant Endocrinologist with Excel Centre, a multi specialty clinic. His interest lies in research especially in Clinical Diabetology and Clinical Thyroidology.

He completed DM in Endocrinology from reputed AIIMS (New Delhi). He is currently serving as a National Expert in the Certificate Course on Management of Thyroid Disorders(CCMTD), jointly sponsored by Public Health Foundation of India and Chellaram Diabetes institute, Pune. During his illustrious career, Dr. Baruah has played an integral part in some prestigious projects such as 'Rationale Usage of Nutraceuticals in Disease Management'- Zydus Nutriva initiative, Biocon's Initiative for Diabetes Education and 'Trans-cultural Diabetes Specific Nutrition Algorithm', an ABBOT Nutrition initiative. He has been on Review Panel of various journals like IJEM, IJCCI, IJCM, JMNN, JMH, and Clinical Medicine Insights: Endocrinology & Metabolism (Libertas Academica). Dr Baruah has been serving in quite a few national advisory boards.

As a faculty, Dr. Baruah has immensely contributed for CCEBDM (Certificate Course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management- 2nd & 3rd cycle)- an initiative of Public Health Foundation of India & Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Education Academy, and 'Saraswati'- A Speaker Training Program (USV India initiative). EXECUTIVE MEMBER

Dr. Nomita Chandhiok a gynaecologist by training, she is a scientist and researcher in the Division of Reproductive Health at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the premiere research body of the government of India. Her job is to identify issues related to women's health, sexual reproductive health, women's infection, and HIV prevention that are relevant to India, and then conduct and coordinate studies that push forward research on these issues. Dr. Chandhiok has been working in this area for almost a decade. In 2003, she received a Fogarty Fellowship at Brown University.

She is presently working as a Professor at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Dr. Neena has been awarded with Member Royal College Obstetricians and Gynecologists (MRCOG)-2003; Clinical Research Fellow: Assisted Reproduction unit, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, Scotland (2003); Research Fellow, Center for Advanced Research in Human Reproduction and Infertility, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA (2007), Yale Fertility Centre, Yale Medical School, CT, USA. She received Commonwealth Fellowship from the British Common wealth Commission (2003); Boys cast Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India (2007) and Overseas Fund from RCOG, UK, at Guy's Hospital London(2010). She has more than 100 publications and number of book chapters. She is engaged in number of research projects.

Dr. Bharati Dhorepatil is a renowned fertility specialist based in Pune. She is currently associated with the Cloudnine Hospital in Pune and is also empanelled as the director and chief IVF consultant at the Pune Fertility clinic. Her areas of specialization are InVitro Fertilization, all aspects of infertility treatments, colposcopy, intra uterine insemination and obesity infertility. Dr Bharati completed her DNB and DNB in obstetrics and gynecology after which she completed her FICS from UK, Diploma in endoscopy and PGDCR from UK gaining wide exposure in her field of work. She has over two decades of clinical experience and is proficient as a fertility specialist and a reproductive medicine expert. Dr Bharati is affiliated with various organisations pertaining to her field of work and has numerous publications and journals to her credit.

Dr Sarita Bajaj, MD, DM. is a pioneer in the field of Endocrinology & has been invited to chair/deliver guest lectures at both national & international forums; organized Symposia, CMEs & Updates on Diabetes, Thyroid & Growth all of which are her special fields of interest. Her contribution towards multicentric studies on Diabetes and Growth have brought Allahabad on the National map viz 1st Prevalence study of diabetes in and around Allahabad (completed), 1st Prevalence study of Complications in Newly Diagnosed Indian Diabetics in Allahabad (completed), 1st Indian Prevention of Diabetes Study (ongoing), 1st Growth Survey in Allahabad. She is a member of the Core Committee of "Guidelines for the management of Diabetes Mellitus" - published in the Journal of Association of Physicians of India and has >60 publications to her credit in National and International Journals. Honours have been bestowed upon her in the scientific and public field for her yeomen contribution to the medical fraternity and society in diabetes education and awareness. She has been awarded WHO Fellowship in Endocrinology to visit SIU School of Medicine, Springfield, Illinois, USA; Fellowship of UP Diabetes Association (UPDA); Fellowship of International College of Nutrition and the Rotary Vocational Excellence Award.


SECRETARY

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sahay is a Diabetologist and Endocrinologist based in Hyderabad. He currently is available for consultation at Mediciti Hospital and the Sahay Endocrine and Diabetes Centre, by appointment. He is also Professor of Endocrinology in the Department of Endocrinology at Osmania Medical College.

Dr. Rakesh Sahay has been involved in clinical research, having been the Principal Investigator for several multi-centric multi-national clinical trials of drugs for diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia and osteoporosis (ICH–GCP compliant). He has a keen interest in writing professionally too, with about 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and several contributed chapters in textbooks. In addition, Dr. Sahay has been invited as a speaker at various national conferences organised by professional bodies such as RSSDI, APICON and the Indian Thyroid Society. He is associated with several national and international professional bodies as an office-bearer or life member, and has played an active role in organising some of their events. He has a number of publications in national and international journals and book chapters. He was Secretary of Endocrine Society of India from 2010-12, Vice-Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Chapter of Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India, 2009-11 and Executive Committee Member of Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India. 2008-10. Dr. Sonia Malik is an esteemed Obstetrician, Gynecologist and IVF & Infertility Specialist of India. She holds an M.B.B.S, DGO and an MD Degree. She carries with her a professional experience of more than three decades in this field. She has already executed over 7000 ART Cycles. She also conducts 12-14 fetal reductions annually. She started her medical career in the year 1977 as a Senior Registrar in Medical College, Rohtak. Later she practiced in countries like Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and finally returned to her native country in the year 1987. Since then, she has been practicing in various hospitals in and around New Delhi, like Holy Angel's Hospital, Infertility and IVF center Mother and Child Hospital, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital and Fortis La Femme. John E. Nestler, MD, is Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond. Dr. Nestler also holds joint appointments as Professor in the departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pharmacology and Toxicology.

Dr. Nestler received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his internship, residency and chief medical residency in Internal Medicine at VCU. His postdoctoral training included clinical and research fellowships in endocrinology at the University of Pennsylvania and VCU.

Dr. Nestler's research has focused on the role of insulin resistance in the polycystic ovary syndrome. His work has been seminal is establishing insulin-sensitizing drugs as a treatment for infertility in women with the polycystic ovary syndrome, and in addressing the impact of insulin resistance on long-term health in the disorder. He has been a principal investigator on numerous research projects, receiving funding from grant sources that include the NIH, the Juvenile Diabetes Association, the American Diabetes Association, and the Diabetes Research & Education Foundation. Dr. Nestler was Program Director of VCU's NIH-funded U54 SCCPRIR Center on Clinical and Translational Research in PCOS.

Dr. Nestler's honors include two of the highest honors of the VCU School of Medicine, namely the "Outstanding Research Achievement Award" and the "Distinguished Mentor in the Clinical Sciences Award," as well as the "Laureate Award" of the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Nestler is a member of a number of professional associations, including the Association of American Physicians, American Society of Clinical Investigation, and the American Clinical and Climatological Association. Dr. Nestler is a co-founder and past president of the Androgen Excess and PCOS Society, and a past president of the Virginia affiliate of the American Diabetes Association. Additionally, Dr. Nestler holds three U.S. patents; has co-edited three books; and has contributed more than 180 articles to US and European publications, such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Diabetes, Diabetes Care, Circulation, and The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Nikhil Tandon is an Indian endocrinologist, medical academic and the head of the department of endocrinology, metabolism and diabetes at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He is a recipient of Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian medical award in 2005 and was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.

He has been the national coordinator for Action in Diabetes and Vascular Diseases (ADVANCE), a study conducted by The George Institute for Global Health, Australia for combating the risks of diabetes and prevent it becoming a global epidemic and has been a member of the steering committee of Center for Cardio-metabolic Risk Reduction in South Asia (CARRS) Trial funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. He also serves as a member of the faculty of Emory University.

Dr. Tandon is a former vice president of the National Academy of Sciences, India and a president and the incumbent general secretary of the Indian Society for Bone and Mineral Research. He has served as an executive committee member of the Endocrine Society of India and is its president. He is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India] and a fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal College of Physicians of London. He has been associated with several national and international bodies such as Indian Council of Medical Research, Defense Research and Development Organization, Department of Biotechnology, National Institutes of Health, Institute for International Health and British Heart Foundation for research on thyroid epidemiology, diabetes and metabolic bone diseases and has participated in many clinical trials. His research findings have been published in several national and international journals.

The Medical Council of India awarded him Dr. B. C. Roy Award in the medical teaching category in 2005. The Government of India followed it up with the civilian award of Padma Shri in 2015. He lives at the Asian Games Village in New Delhi.

Prof. Dash is the 1st DM in Endocrinology in India and has served PGI from 1969 – 2003. He is a recipient of Dr.B.C.Roy National Award for developing Endocrinology as a superspeciality. His major Research Awards include: Shakuntala Amir Chand Award (1976) & Raja Ravi Sher Singh of Kalsia memorial Award (1980) from ICMR; Hari Om Ashram Alembic Research Award (MCI) for application of hormone assays at field level from Medical Council of India(1980); Boehringer Knoll Gold Medal (1976), George Coehlo Memorial lecturer in Experimental Medicine (!983), Shurvir Singh Trust Visiting Professorship award(1987), Hoechst Senior Lecturer in Diabetes and Gold Medal (1988) from API .

He was a Postdoctoral Fellow, Reproductive Endocrinology Program, University of Michigan, USA (1973-74); Visiting Fellow, Australian National University, Canberra (1979); Senior Common Wealth Fellow in Endocrinology in UK (1986) and WHO Scientist Award (1980). He has been nominated as Post-Centenary Fellow of the Madras Medical College, Fellow of the International Medical Sciences Academy (India), Fellow International College of Angiology, Founder Fellow of Indian College of Physicians, Fellow, New-York Academy of Sciences (USA) and Royal College of Physicians , London(2006). Prof J.D.Ward, Vice President of RCP described Prof. Dash to be "ahead of his times". He has been visiting Professor to Universities and Centers of Excellence in Endocrinology in 30 countries abroad and 10 Institutions in India. He has delivered 16 famed orations in Professional Societies in the country.

He is a Founder member and former President of the Endocrine Society of India.

Dr Shashank Joshi, an Indian endocrinologist, diabetologist and medical researcher, considered by many as one of the prominent practitioners of the trade in India. He has been awarded the civilian award Padma Shri in 2014 for his efforts in research and clinical care in endocrinology. Prof Shashank R Joshi is the President of Indian Academy of Diabetes, President API (Association of Physicians of India) and Past President of RSSDI (Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India). He is affiliated to several leading hospitals of the Mumbai, India including Lilavati & Bhatia Hospitals. He is a faculty at Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Group of Hospitals in Endocrinology. He is visiting faculty to several Indian and International Universities. He is actively involved with evidence based work in Endocrinology including Diabetes, Obesity, Thyroid, Osteoporosis and Growth. He was awarded "International Clinician of the year 2012" by the American College of Endocrinology.

Dr. Ambrish Mithal is an Indian endocrinologist, diabetologist and the Chairman and Head of Endocrinology and Diabetes division of Medanta, the Medicity, a super specialty hospital located at Gurgaon, Haryana. He secured the master's degree of DM from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, worked at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow and, later, at Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi before joining Medanta. Mithal was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Bhushan, the third highest Indian civilian award.

Dr. Mithal has made pioneering contribution to the development of the speciality of endocrinology in India in all its aspects- academic, clinical and social- and has played a key role in placing Indian endocrinology on the global map.

While at AIIMS- in the mid 1980s- he assisted in studies related to iodine deficiency, which paved the way for the universal salt iodation program in India. Later, at SGPGIMS, he carried out seminal research on fluoride toxicity in Unnao, UP, which affects more than 60 million people in India. He was subsequently awarded the prestigious Fogarty fellowship to conduct research at Harvard Medical School (1993-94).

In 1997, Dr Mithal established India's first bone density measurement system and osteoporosis service in SGPGIMS Lucknow. He was the first Indian to be trained in bone density measurement, as a JICA fellow, in Japan. Dr Mithal was the first to establish osteoporosis as a serious health problem in India that affects an estimated 50 million people, and among the first to establish the existence of widespread vitamin D deficiency in India. Presently he is leading the initiative to fortify edible oil and milk with vitamin D to help tackle this epidemic, which affects more than 80 percent urban Indians. Dr Mithal was the technical advisor for the World Diabetes Foundation/ Jagran Pehel initiative on diabetes and pregnancy (15 percent of Indian women develop diabetes in pregnancy). He is also leading a nutrition and growth program for underprivileged children in two UP schools.

Dr. Alka Kriplani is an Indian gynecologist, medical writer and academic, known for her contributions to the fields of Reproductive Endocrinology and Gynaecological Endoscopy. She is a professor and the Head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. A recipient of the Dr. B. C. Roy Award in 2007, she was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.

She is an honorary Fellow of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of London and holds the fellowships of Academy of Medicine, Singapore, Indian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Indian College of Maternal and Child Health and the Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceania.

Kriplani is the president of the Gynaecological Endocrine Society of India since 2011, a former president of Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Delhi and a former vice president of the Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecological Societies of India and the Delhi Gynaecological Endoscopists Society. She has served AOGD in various capacities in the past and is a former member of the governing council of the Indian College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a subsidiary of FOGSI. She has also been a member of the editorial board of the Asian Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
